Domestic abuse incidents in Stirling at 10-year-high as figures soar by 30 per cent

Nationally, the number of police-recorded domestic abuse incidents in Scotland reached 63,867 in 2023-24, showing a three per cent increase compared to the previous year. It is noteworthy that the majority of victims in these incidents were female, accounting for 83 per cent of cases. Additionally, in 81 per cent of incidents, the victim was female with a male suspect, while 17 per cent of victims were male. Interestingly, 15 per cent of incidents involved a male victim with a female suspect, and in three per cent of cases, the victim and suspected perpetrator were of the same gender.
