An appeal has been made to raise £100k for a remarkable new landmark in Annan. The Public Art Centrepiece project revealed its chosen design to the community during a coffee morning commemorating the loss of two iconic bridges to heavy flooding three years ago. The project, to be crafted by Thornhill blacksmith Nate Robinson, will incorporate metal parts salvaged from the bridges. The Annan The History Group is spearheading the project and has initiated an online funding campaign to raise the necessary funds for the sculpture’s creation and installation.

The selected design for the landmark draws inspiration from the town’s legend of the Kelpie in the River Annan. Permission will be required to place the sculpture on Battery Street, connecting the town to the river, as the land is held in trust for the common good.
