Dozy thief who cut himself on glass stealing gecko from animal charity is jailed

A clumsy thief who injured himself while attempting to steal a gecko from an animal charity has been sentenced to jail. Michael Hesketh, aged 39, caused significant damage to Pets Corner in Chorley, Lancashire, before absconding with the reptile named Lizzie. In his burglary attempt at the establishment, which houses various animals from rabbits to chipmunks, he forcibly removed the door handle to gain entry.

Hesketh managed to sell the stolen gecko for £20, but fortunately, Lizzie was later found unharmed and returned to the charity.
