Driver dies after horror rush hour smash on Edinburgh City Bypass

A tragic incident occurred during the rush hour on the Edinburgh City Bypass, resulting in the death of a driver. The emergency services swiftly responded to the collision on the A720 between Gogar Roundabout and Hermiston Gait around 9.10am on Thursday, November 7. The crash involved three vehicles: a grey Volkswagen Transporter campervan, a grey Volkswagen Tiguan, and a red Vauxhall Corsa, causing a temporary halt in morning traffic on the busy road.
The driver of the Corsa, a 53-year-old man, sustained severe injuries and was immediately taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. Tragically, he passed away shortly after due to the extent of his injuries. Fortunately, the driver of the Tiguan only suffered minor injuries and was hospitalised, while the driver of the campervan emerged unharmed from the collision. Investigations into the circumstances of the crash are currently underway.
