Drunk workman tried to abduct boy, 4, in Scots supermarket car park

A shocking incident occurred in a supermarket car park in Scotland, where a drunken workman attempted to abduct a four-year-old boy. The man, identified as Andrzej Palosz, was caught by the child’s mother as he took the boy by the hand and tried to lead him away. Despite the mother’s intervention and placing the child in the car, Palosz followed and attempted to pull the boy out of the vehicle.

The concerned mother filmed the incident on her mobile phone and later shared it on social media to help identify the accused. Palosz, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time, was eventually traced by the police. Following his arrest, Palosz, aged 48, pleaded guilty to the attempted abduction at Livingston Sheriff Court.

During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Palosz approached the boy in an Aldi supermarket car park in Bathgate, West Lothian. Despite having no previous convictions, Palosz was remanded in custody pending sentencing. His lawyer, Lindsey Cunningham, arranged for a plea agreement with the Crown Office, and Palosz admitted to the offence.

As the case was adjourned until 12 December, it was decided that background reports and assessments would be necessary before sentencing. Sheriff Martin Edington called for community payback order reports and suggested recommendations for supervision and unpaid work hours. The accused would remain in custody until the next court date.

This disturbing incident serves as a reminder of the importance of staying vigilant and ensuring the safety of children, especially in public spaces. Parents and guardians must remain cautious and proactive in protecting their children from potential dangers.
