Dumfries and Galloway residents warned they have just days left to apply for garden waste collection

Residents in Dumfries and Galloway are being reminded that time is running out to apply for the garden waste collection scheme. The local council’s garden waste recycling programme is set to start in March 2025, with permits priced at £40 per bin.

Those interested in participating in the service must submit their applications by November 30 to ensure prompt inclusion. Successful applicants will receive a 240-litre wheelie bin that will be emptied every two weeks from March to November. However, individuals who apply after December 1 will have to wait until June 2025 for their collections to commence.

The council highlights various benefits of having a garden waste bin, such as creating more space in the general bin, contributing to environmental conservation efforts, and promoting recycling of garden waste. Residents can apply for a permit by visiting one of the council’s customer service centres or accessing the application form online at https://orlo.uk/lU63U.

It is essential for Dumfries and Galloway residents to act quickly and submit their applications to avoid missing out on this convenient and environmentally friendly waste collection service. By taking part in the garden waste recycling scheme, residents can actively contribute to sustainable waste management practices in their community.
