Dumfries cyclist pays tribute to mountain rescue team

A cyclist from Dumfries has expressed her gratitude towards the Moffat Mountain Rescue Team for their assistance after she suffered a leg injury in Ae Forest. Allison Morford, the mountain biker involved in the accident, commended the prompt response and professionalism of both the rescue team and the staff at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary where she received treatment.
In a heartfelt message to the rescue team shared on social media, Allison expressed her relief at the sight of the ambulance and rescue team arriving at the scene. She thanked them for stabilising her leg, providing pain relief, and safely transporting her down the hill to the waiting ambulance. She also appreciated the warmth and care she received, acknowledging the vital service the team provides to the community.
Allison, who had never been a casualty before, highlighted the importance of having done first aid courses and the critical role her friend played in seeking help in an area with no phone signal. Police Scotland alerted the rescue team, who swiftly mobilised 12 volunteers equipped with necessary gear to assist Allison.
The rescue team, along with paramedics, treated Allison’s injuries on-site before safely transporting her to the hospital for further evaluation. Allison expressed her gratitude towards the hospital staff for their care during her recovery process. She also thanked her colleagues and well-wishers for their support and messages of encouragement.
Reflecting on her experience, Allison emphasized the importance of preparedness and quick thinking in outdoor activities. She acknowledged the invaluable assistance of the rescue team and medical professionals in ensuring her safety and well-being during the challenging ordeal.
