Dumfries Food Train on track to help older people

The Dumfries Food Train is making strides in its mission to support older people in the community. Recently, a Christmas coffee morning held at the Food Train Hub in English Street, Dumfries, helped raise funds for this cause. The event saw Gary McCracken and Tracey Egginton leading a popular raffle, with proceeds going towards aiding older individuals in the area.
This year, Cochran at Newbie generously selected Food Train Annan as their charity of the year and contributed £500 to support the cause. Food Train expressed gratitude for the donation, highlighting its significance in providing essential help, support, and companionship to elderly residents, enabling them to live independently at home for longer. The festive gathering featured a delightful soup prepared by Food Train’s Maggie Ferrier and Olive Shaw to bring warmth and joy to attendees.
The community’s engagement and support for the Dumfries Food Train demonstrate a heartwarming collective effort to assist elderly individuals in leading fulfilling lives. The charity’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of older people is evident through initiatives like the Christmas coffee morning, which not only raises funds but also fosters a sense of togetherness and care within the community.
In a world where the elderly can often feel isolated or overlooked, the Dumfries Food Train serves as a beacon of hope and practical support. By coming together to fundraise and provide essential services, community members not only meet the needs of older residents but also show them that they are valued and cherished. Initiatives like these instil a sense of connection and belonging, creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for all individuals, regardless of age.
