The students at Calside Primary had participated in a competition to win a visit from Gladiator Steel by registering for a free schools fundraising pack. This pack provided guidelines on how students, parents, and staff could join hands to raise funds for BBC Children in Need. During his visit, Steel engaged with each class, encouraging them to get moving and motivated in a special Movement and Motivation Masterclass.

The workshop involved a fun challenge where the children competed with Gladiator Steel in a fitness battle to see who could do the most star-jumps in a minute. Additionally, Steel encouraged the children to embrace confidence and discover their own superpowers, whether it be kindness, being a good listener, or assisting others.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the initiative, Gladiator Steel shared, “I have been honoured to be touring the UK with BBC Children in Need as it is an amazing opportunity to inspire the next generation to get active, improve their wellbeing while raising money for Pudsey. Everything that we raise together will help BBC Children in Need be there for children and young people when they need it most.”

Principal teacher Garth McIlorum highlighted the significance of Children in Need day at the school, mentioning that it is a cherished event for the children. He commended Gladiator Steel for his inspiring session, motivating the children to be energised and confident while supporting a good cause. As a special treat, the pupils were also treated to a live-streamed Gladiators event as a token of appreciation for their fundraising efforts.

In summary, the students at Calside Primary School in Dumfries were thrilled to engage with Gladiator Steel, who not only encouraged them to stay active and motivated but also instilled in them the values of kindness and positivity.
