Dunblane bricklayer secures special apprenticeship after work with house builder

A Dunblane bricklayer named Dale Robertson has recently been chosen to partake in a specialized apprenticeship program aimed at further developing his skills in the construction industry. Dale, who has been working as an apprentice bricklayer with Persimmon Homes since 2022, has shown exceptional performance both in the classroom and on various building sites. Following his outstanding progress, Persimmon Homes had the opportunity to recommend three apprentices for the Advanced Craft Bricklaying course at South Lanarkshire College, and Dale was one of the selected candidates.
The Advanced Craft course at the college is designed to help apprentices like Dale enhance their existing knowledge and acquire advanced techniques and practical expertise in bricklaying. It not only focuses on technical skills but also prepares apprentices for more responsibilities and professional growth within the construction sector. Dale expressed his excitement about the opportunity, stating, “Being selected for the Advanced Craft course is a fantastic chance to build on what I’ve learned and push my skills further. I’m grateful for Persimmon’s support and excited to bring my new knowledge back to the team.”
William Smith, the regional apprenticeship manager at Persimmon Homes, commended Dale for his dedication and enthusiasm towards bricklaying, emphasizing the company’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of skilled tradespeople. Smith said, “We believe in providing our apprentices with opportunities to develop their skills and succeed in their careers.”
This apprenticeship opportunity signifies a significant milestone in Dale’s career and highlights the importance of investing in the growth and development of young talents in the construction industry. As Dale continues to hone his skills through the Advanced Craft program, he is well-positioned to make a positive impact in the field of bricklaying and contribute to the future of construction projects in Dunblane and beyond.
