Family of woman killed by Scots OAP in Canada 10 years ago make new appeal for her body

The family of a woman who was brutally murdered by a Scots pensioner in Canada have made a plea for help in finding her body on the 10th anniversary of her death. Andrew Watson, a former partner of Lise Fredette, bludgeoned her to death with a shovel before dumping her body at an unknown location in November 2014. Despite Watson’s conviction for murder in April 2017, he never revealed the whereabouts of the 74-year-old’s remains. Watson passed away in prison at the age of 84 in 2022.
Stephane Leclerc, Miss Fredette’s son, expressed the ongoing nightmare of not having closure and the family’s desperate plea for any information that could lead to finding her body. He highlighted the importance of having a place where he can go to remember his mother, stating, “Maybe somebody knows something or has a clue.”
During Watson’s trial, it was revealed that he was a possessive ex-boyfriend who murdered Miss Fredette as a final, controlling act. Despite pleas from Miss Fredette’s children at the sentencing hearing, Watson remained silent about the location of her body. The investigation into the case is still ongoing, with Peterborough Police Sergeant Mike Self emphasising the importance of finding Miss Fredette’s body for the family to attain closure.
Watson and Miss Fredette’s relationship ended in 2014, but Watson continued to harass her, culminating in her tragic murder. Miss Fredette’s children were awarded damages from Watson’s estate for the emotional distress caused by their mother’s death. The family continues to hold out hope that someday they will find Miss Fredette’s remains.
The family’s appeal serves as a reminder of the enduring pain and suffering caused by unresolved cases of violence and the importance of closure for the loved ones left behind. Despite the passage of time, they hold onto hope that someone may come forward with vital information that could lead to locating Miss Fredette’s body and bringing a sense of peace and resolution to their long-standing nightmare.
