Final deadline looms for Observer toy appeal drop-offs as donations flood in

The deadline for dropping off donations for the Observer toy appeal is fast approaching, with an influx of contributions pouring in. The 2024 Give a Gift Appeal is in full swing, aiming to match the incredible generosity seen in 2023. People who still wish to donate to this year’s Stirling Observer Give A Gift Appeal are urged to do so by the beginning of next week. Various charities and good causes will soon select items for distribution, and the Observer team is actively collecting donations over the next few days. Kaiya Marjoribanks, the appeal co-ordinator and Observer reporter, emphasised the increasing demand for donations each year. The goal is to provide charities with a wide selection of gifts in time for Christmas, even though donations may be more spread out this year.
Toys and gifts of all kinds are needed, from baby toys to gift sets for teenagers, including Lego, jigsaws, games, arts and crafts, and sports equipment. The appeal, established in 2008, aims to distribute new toys and gifts to children and young people facing challenges such as illness, disability, and financial hardship. Numerous charities and initiatives, ranging from Stirling Young Carers to Stirling HMP and Glenochil Family Support Hubs, benefit from the appeal’s donations. Additionally, local groups like CRAG (Cowie) and Love in a Box have received toys for children and families they support.
For those interested in organising gift collections at workplaces, schools, or groups, becoming drop-off points, or seeking more information, contact details are provided. Various drop-off points across Stirling and surrounding areas accept donations, ensuring that gifts reach those in need. The appeal also accepts gift cards and vouchers for added flexibility in donations. The Observer plans to showcase the generosity of the community by featuring collection efforts in the run-up to Christmas. Donations should be new and unwrapped to allow for personalised gift-giving.
The ongoing support and generosity towards the Observer toy appeal demonstrate the community’s willingness to spread joy and support those in need during the holiday season. Let’s continue to donate and make a difference in the lives of children and young people in our local area.
