Former St Ninians restaurant set to undergo vert surgery revamp

Plans are in motion to transform a long-standing Stirling restaurant into a veterinary surgery, as the Hollybank in St Ninians, which has been catering to customers since 1991, has recently been put up for sale. An application has been submitted to the Stirling Council planners by W S Dunsire proposing to partially demolish, alter, extend, and change the use of the existing bar restaurant premises at 58 Glasgow Road into a veterinary surgery.

The premises, historically operating as a bar/restaurant, is set to undergo this transformation due to pressures on the hospitality industry leading to the decision to sell. With the building expected to be vacated by the end of the year, the future use of the premises hinges on this planning application. The conversion into a vets’ surgery is aimed at revitalising the building and creating new skilled job opportunities in the area, according to agents for the applicants.

The location of the premises is described as being between Glasgow Road and Borestone Place, with various grounds including wooded areas, car parking spaces, and access roads. The proposal involves partly demolishing, reconfiguring, and constructing new extensions to convert the premises into a veterinary surgery complete with consulting rooms, treatment rooms, office space, and staff facilities. The plans also include landscaping improvements, removal of certain extensions, and the retention and refurbishment of existing structures.

The existing driveway layout is set to be revamped to provide better access and parking facilities, including the addition of EV charging points. The proposal aims to enhance the functionality and aesthetics of the property while aligning it with the changing needs of the local community.

In summary, the transformation of the former restaurant into a veterinary surgery reflects the adaptability and resilience of businesses in response to evolving market demands. This repurposing not only breathes new life into the building but also contributes to the provision of essential veterinary services in the area, showcasing a forward-thinking approach to property development and business sustainability.
