Gatehouse residents get chance to draw up town’s Local Place Plan

Gatehouse residents are being given the opportunity to contribute to the town’s Local Place Plan. Drop-in sessions are scheduled to take place at the Mill on the Fleet, with the first session on Wednesday, October 9, from 6pm to 8pm, and the second session on Friday, October 11, from 2pm to 4pm.

The steering group leading the development of the plan is encouraging all members of the community to participate and share their ideas. Group convenor Susan Miller expressed the importance of community involvement, stating, “The plan is about what you want from your town over the coming years. Come along and tell us what’s important to you.” Gatehouse Community Council convenor Mark Laird echoed this sentiment, urging residents to voice their preferences for the town’s future.

The upcoming drop-in sessions follow a successful event focused on the Gatehouse Local Place Plan held last weekend. During the event, attendees engaged in discussions on various topics such as transportation, housing, environment, economy, and services. Participants had the opportunity to provide feedback on current strengths, areas for improvement, and complete a brief survey.

The finalised Gatehouse Local Place Plan will serve as a key resource for Dumfries and Galloway Council as it formulates its next local development plan. This collaborative effort aims to ensure that the voices and aspirations of Gatehouse residents are reflected in the town’s strategic planning for the years ahead.
