Glasgow Chef Collapses at Recycling Centre, Sadly Dies – Daily Record

A Glasgow chef tragically passed away after collapsing at a recycling centre, leaving his family devastated. Colin James Barron, 44, suddenly collapsed at Shieldhall Recycling Centre in Glasgow and was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Medics discovered he had suffered a heart artery bleed and placed him in an induced coma. Despite efforts to save him, Colin was pronounced dead at around 4pm. His family, including his wife, parents, siblings, and cousins, were by his side during his final moments.

In the wake of Colin’s unexpected death, his cousin Nicola O’Doherty launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for his funeral and to support his wife and three children financially. Nicola described Colin as a beloved family member with a big heart, and his loss has left them feeling broken. Colin, who appeared as a chef on STV’s Live at Five, had married Lynn in 2023 and was deeply cherished by her children, Molly, Erin, and Harry.

Nicola shared that Colin had recently found happiness with Lynn and was starting to enjoy life again. The family will honour Colin’s love for sports cars by organizing a convoy to accompany his funeral procession on December 4. The procession will pass by St James Church, where Colin and Lynn married, before his burial at St Conval’s Cemetery. Those wishing to assist with funeral costs can contribute to Nicola’s GoFundMe page.

In this difficult time, the Glasgow community has come together to support Colin’s family as they navigate this heartbreaking loss. The memories of Colin as a talented chef and a cherished family member will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
