Hamilton Loves Christmas and Comic Con to Kick Off Christmas 2024
Hamilton is gearing up for its most festive season yet as it prepares to launch a series of special events in the town centre. The upcoming Hamilton Loves Christmas week, designed to support local businesses, will coincide with the long-awaited return of Comic Con to the town after a five-year hiatus. Scheduled for November 16-17, the weekend festivities will culminate in the official Christmas lights switch-on ceremony on November 23, led by Paralympic champion Steph McGuire.
Organised by Hamilton Our Town, the festive celebrations will feature a bustling Christmas market, a pop-up panto performance, and various entertainment options. The Hamilton Loves Christmas initiative aims to emphasise the importance of shopping locally and supporting the vibrant community during the holiday season and beyond.
The Christmas kickoff will commence this Saturday with an indoor Christmas market at the Regent Centre, where more than 70 traders will showcase their wares, including jewellery, beauty products, handmade crafts, and more. Residents are encouraged to pledge their commitment to shopping locally and will be recognised on a pledge wall in support of the town centre.
Additionally, the Regent Centre will host a variety of entertainers, including dancers, musicians, and magicians, as part of the festive celebrations. Comic Con will also make a comeback, offering attendees a chance to meet their favourite superheroes and enjoy fun attractions like giant inflatables and retro arcade games.
As the week progresses, the town will come alive with a range of activities leading up to the grand Christmas lights switch-on ceremony on November 23. Paralympic gold medalist Steph McGuire will lead the festivities, which will also include the Hamilton hero awards presentation, a celebratory parade, Christmas markets, and a diverse entertainment lineup.
Looking ahead, Hamilton’s Christmas programme will continue with markets on December 7 and 21, featuring a pop-up panto and a town centre trail, respectively. Families can look forward to a special performance of The Wizard of Oz by Halo Arts on December 7, promising a magical experience for all attendees.
Malcolm Thomas-Harley from Hamilton Our Town expressed excitement for the upcoming events, highlighting the town’s commitment to providing engaging and free activities for families while boosting local businesses. With the festive season fast approaching, Hamilton residents and visitors can anticipate a memorable and enjoyable Christmas celebration in the heart of the town centre.
