Inspiring Scots dad sheds 3 stone after ‘struggling to keep up with kids’

In a remarkable transformation, a dad from Scotland has shed an impressive three stone after struggling to keep up with his children. Stuart Bain, who battles chronic fatigue and hypoglycaemia, found himself facing anxiety and weight gain. However, his life took a positive turn when he joined the Man v Fat programme in Paisley. This unique programme, unlike traditional weight loss classes, combines football with achievable weight loss goals specifically designed for men.
Stuart, a resident of Paisley, shared, “I joined Man v Fat because I was on a weight loss journey and I always dreamed of playing football again. I suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome/M.E and reactive hypoglycemia, and I was told by doctors that losing weight would help improve my symptoms and overall quality of life.” Stuart, who previously weighed 17 stone, realized the need for change when he struggled to keep pace with his children. Joining the programme was daunting for Stuart, who hadn’t played football in almost two decades and was battling anxiety and poor fitness.
The supportive environment of Man v Fat impressed Stuart, who highlighted the camaraderie among participants. Stuart’s weight loss journey, resulting in him currently weighing around 13.5 stone, empowered him to achieve personal milestones, such as climbing Ben Lomond, something he had always aspired to do. Speaking about the impact of the programme on his life, Stuart emphasized its significance, not just for weight loss but also for mental well-being. The sense of community and encouragement he found at Man v Fat Paisley has been instrumental in his success.
Man v Fat Paisley convenes every Wednesday evening at Powerleague Paisley, Anchor Grounds, from 8 pm. With over 8,500 men participating in more than 150 Man v Fat Football clubs across the UK, the programme continues to make a tangible difference in men’s lives struggling with weight management and mental health challenges.
