JOHN MURDOCH’S DRIVE TIME: We take a look at changes made to Suzuki’s popular Vitara model

### Suzuki Introduces Mid-Term Makeover for Vitara Hybrid Model

Suzuki has recently announced a mid-term makeover for its current Vitara hybrid model, following the debut of the all-new battery-powered e Vitara. The updates include styling enhancements, increased standard equipment and technology, as well as improved hybrid efficiency. The makeover introduces exterior changes such as a redesigned front grille and bumper, new alloy wheels, and two additional body colours. Both the 1.4 litre mild hybrid manual and 1.5 litre full hybrid auto versions are said to offer improved fuel consumption and reduced CO2 emissions, with options for four-wheel drive.

The latest Vitara model now features Motion and Ultra trim grades, offering advanced safety technologies like lane keep assist, intelligent speed control, driver monitoring system, and eCall. The Ultra grade further enhances the standard equipment with polished alloy wheels, a panoramic sliding sunroof, and various convenience features like keyless entry, smartphone connectivity, and Suzuki Connect services.

In a separate study released during Tyre Safety Month, it was revealed that a significant number of drivers lack knowledge about tyre safety, potentially endangering lives. The research highlighted that a small fraction of motorists regularly check their tyre tread depth, with many relying on visual inspection instead of proper gauges. Misconceptions about penalties for insufficient tread depth were also noted. Innovative solutions, such as mobile apps for measuring tyre tread depth, are being developed to address these safety concerns.

The collaboration between Suzuki and TyreSafe underscores the importance of educating drivers about tyre maintenance to prevent avoidable accidents. It aims to empower drivers with the knowledge and tools needed to make informed decisions for safer road travel. The emphasis on tyre safety comes in light of recent reports showing a rise in casualties related to tyre incidents, underscoring the urgency of promoting proper tyre maintenance practices among drivers.

### Summary:
Suzuki has unveiled a refreshed Vitara hybrid model with updates to its design, technology, and efficiency. The revision includes new styling elements, increased standard features, and advancements in hybrid performance. Alongside this, a study highlighting the lack of tyre safety awareness among drivers emphasises the importance of education and innovative solutions to enhance road safety. Collaborative efforts between automotive manufacturers and safety organisations play a crucial role in equipping drivers with the necessary knowledge and tools to ensure vehicle safety and prevent accidents.
