Kinnoull Tennis Club’s £150,000 new facilities will serve Perth and beyond

Kinnoull Tennis Club in Perth has unveiled its new state-of-the-art facilities, worth a total of £150,000, which are set to benefit not only the local community but also attract players from across the region and beyond. The club secured funding for the renovation project, which includes four new artificial courts, LED floodlights, and improved disabled access to the courts and clubhouse, from various sources such as The Gannochy Trust and Perth and Kinross Council’s Perth Common Good Fund. Members of the club also played a significant role in fundraising efforts, contributing to 60% of the total project costs.
The club, founded in 1887, has a rich history of producing talented young players and performing well in local and regional competitions. The recent upgrades, which began in September and were completed in November, aim to enhance the overall playing experience for members and visitors alike. Sportex, a company based in Grangemouth, installed the new Tiger Turf courts, while the lighting system was upgraded to energy-efficient LED lights. Additionally, a new pathway for wheelchair access to the clubhouse is set to be completed in early 2025, ensuring inclusivity for disabled players.
John Clark, the club’s vice-chairman, expressed gratitude towards the various trusts and local groups that supported the project, as well as the dedicated club members who contributed significantly to the fundraising efforts. With the new facilities in place, the club is looking to attract more members, offering incentives such as free junior winter memberships and special membership deals.
The improvements at Kinnoull Tennis Club not only showcase a commitment to enhancing recreational facilities but also highlight the importance of community engagement and inclusivity in sports. By providing accessible and state-of-the-art facilities, the club is poised to further its legacy of nurturing tennis talent and promoting active participation in the sport among individuals of all backgrounds.
