Co-op’s Local Community Fund Grants Benefit Lanarkshire Good Causes

Eighteen local organisations in Lanarkshire are set to benefit from a total of nearly £63,000 in grant funding from Co-op’s local community fund. The grants will support a wide range of projects in the area, including foodbanks, community gardens, youth initiatives, and gala days.

Among the recipients is the Hamilton District Foodbank, which will receive over £5700 to replenish low stocks of essential items and provide additional support to those in need. Bothwell Parish Church and Bothwell Futures are receiving £1500 each to maintain their community food larder, while organisations like Loaves and Fishes in East Kilbride and Home Comforts North Lanarkshire are also receiving funds to support their efforts in providing food parcels and essential supplies to vulnerable individuals.

Other recipients include Hareleeshill Community Hub in Larkhall, Auld Stanehoose Community Cafe in Stonehouse, Supporting Our Community in Hamilton, and more, each using the grants to facilitate various community programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing the well-being of local residents.

The grants, allocated through Co-op’s unique member-led selection process, aim to empower communities and support initiatives that address local needs and create a positive impact. Rebecca Birkbeck of Co-op expressed delight in the partnership with local organisations and highlighted the significant difference these grants will make in supporting vital services and initiatives within the community.
