The Annan Christmas Lights Committee is hard at work organising a lantern parade down High Street on November 30, during the town’s Christmas switch-on event. Participants are encouraged to bring along their handmade lanterns for the festive parade. The committee expressed gratitude to everyone who participated in the workshops and highlighted the tremendous support received from the local community and businesses.
Julie Pepper, from the committee, launched a JustGiving Page to raise funds for the Christmas event, exceeding their initial target with £1,302 raised so far. Businesses like Rene’s Gifts & Accessories, R Johnstone & Sons, and Moffat Fire and Security Ltd have generously contributed to the cause. The committee aims to use the funds for lighting decorations, Christmas tree maintenance, and providing free entertainment and activities on the switch-on day.
Throughout the preparations, the committee emphasised the importance of community support and expressed heartfelt thanks for the overwhelming generosity received. The festive spirit is palpable in Annan as locals come together to brighten up the town for the holiday season.
