Lionesses arrive at West Lothian zoo from war-torn Ukraine

Two lionesses, Luna and Plusza, have made their way to Five Sisters Zoo in West Lothian all the way from war-torn Ukraine. The four-year-old lionesses arrived in West Calder on Wednesday night after being rescued from a conflict zone in east Ukraine that was heavily affected by shelling in 2022. Initially kept by a private owner, Luna and Plusza received medical care and were moved to a zoo in Poland. From there, they were transported through Belgium to finally reach safety in Scotland.
