Mallorca tourists sent warning over ‘darker side’ of island during Christmas

Mallorca tourists warned about ‘darker side’ of the island during Christmas festivities
A travel expert has sounded the alarm for tourists planning a Christmas getaway to Mallorca, one of Spain’s top holiday destinations. While the island is adorned with Christmas lights and filled with festive events, Alex from the ‘Mallorca Under The Sun’ YouTube channel has shed light on a concerning issue visitors should be cautious of during their stay.

Despite the appearance of tranquillity in Palma Nova, Alex pointed out that pickpockets are still active, especially during the winter months and Christmas season in Palma. She warned travellers to be vigilant as street thieves, pickpocketers, and handbag dippers target unsuspecting tourists and Christmas shoppers on the island.

As the festive season approaches, Palma is expected to be bustling with visitors until the Three Kings’ Night on January 5. Alex advised travellers to utilise public transport due to limited parking spaces in the city. However, she stressed the importance of safeguarding belongings on crowded public transport, particularly on busy Saturday nights.

Highlighting November 23 as a significant date, Alex warned tourists about the risks of pickpockets during the Christmas lights illumination event in Palma. She urged travellers to secure their belongings, avoid carrying important documents like passports, and remain vigilant at all times. Despite the warnings, Alex emphasised that experiencing Palma during Christmas is truly magical, blending sunshine with festive cheer.

In conclusion, while Mallorca offers a picturesque Christmas setting, tourists are advised to stay alert and take precautions against potential theft and pickpocketing incidents, ensuring a safe and enjoyable holiday experience on the island.
