Man found dead after car crash on unclassified Scots road as police launch appeal

A tragic incident occurred on an unclassified road in Aberdeenshire, where a man lost his life in a one-car crash. The fatal accident is suspected to have taken place between 11.15pm on Thursday and 6.30am on Friday on the road connecting A980 at Torphins to B9119 at Tornaveen. Emergency services responded to the scene on Friday morning, where they found the 64-year-old male driver of a black Skoda Octavia estate car deceased.
Sergeant Pete Henderson expressed condolences to the family and friends of the victim while highlighting that investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash. Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the vehicle, which is believed to have possibly started its journey from Edzell around 10.30pm on Thursday, travelling via the Cairn O’ Mount B974 route. Individuals with dash-cam footage or information relevant to the investigation are encouraged to come forward.
