Paddy McGuinness to stop off in Strathaven tonight ahead of final stretch of Children in Need cycle challenge


Paddy McGuinness is stopping in Strathaven tonight for a much-needed rest as he nears the final stretch of his Children in Need cycle challenge. The Radio 2 and Top Gear presenter is taking on an Ultra Endurance Cycle Challenge, pedalling 300 miles over five days from Wrexham to Glasgow on a customised Raleigh Chopper to raise funds for the BBC charity. Today, McGuinness tackled a gruelling 64-mile cycle from Ecclefechan to Strathaven, facing challenging rural terrain and a long ascent to Beattock. Strathaven locals are urged to show their support for McGuinness as he arrives in the South Lanarkshire town.

So far, McGuinness has raised an impressive £3,348,481 for Children in Need. He will have a brief rest in Strathaven before setting off early tomorrow for the final leg of his journey to Glasgow. On his route, he will pass Kingsgate Retail Park in East Kilbride, Burnside, and Rutherglen.
