Police ‘extremely concerned’ for missing Scots fisherman who vanished last year

Police express deep worry for missing Scottish fisherman who disappeared in the past year
Police have voiced their extreme concern for a fisherman who has been missing for over a year. Robert Gibson, known as Bob, was reported missing on October 23, 2023, but it is believed he was last seen the previous month. The 74-year-old from Banff is described as around 5ft 7in tall, slim, with thinning grey hair. There has been no confirmed sighting of Bob, leaving police unable to determine what he was wearing. Bob was known to keep to himself but was familiar in the local area, frequently walking in the Duff House area and enjoying fishing. Local golfers also recognised him as he would return lost golf balls he found during his walks.
Detective Inspector Andrew Wilson stated, “More than a year has passed since Bob was reported missing, and we remain extremely concerned for him. Bob was known to walk along the River Deveron, and despite extensive searches on land and water, he has not been found. All investigative leads have also yielded no results. I urge anyone with information on Bob’s whereabouts to contact us immediately.” Anyone with information can reach out to authorities, quoting incident number 1990 of October 23, 2023.
