Dumfries Devorgilla Rotary Club Holds Fundraiser Pop-Up Shop

The Dumfries Devorgilla Rotary Club is hosting a Charity Pop-Up Shop at the Loreburne Centre in Dumfries, aiming to raise funds for local charities and youth organizations. The shop, located in the former BrightHouse store, will be open today, tomorrow, and Saturday from 10am to 4pm. All items for sale have been donated, and the shop will be staffed by dedicated volunteers from the Rotary Club.

This fundraising initiative, now in its fifth year, was established in November 2020 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic to encourage local shopping. A wide range of items will be available for purchase, including electrical goods, bric-a-brac, jewellery, toys, books, and more. The funds raised from the sales will benefit various local charities, including Freddie’s Sunshine chosen by the Loreburne Centre.

President of the Devorgilla Rotary, Bob Carruthers, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, highlighting that the shop serves as a major fundraiser for the club’s charitable endeavors. The collaboration with Loreburne Centre has been instrumental in the success of the initiative, with past events raising an impressive £17,000 for charity.

Visitors to the Pop-Up Shop can also participate in a tombola with exciting prizes up for grabs daily. The event promises a rewarding shopping experience while supporting worthy causes within the community.

In conclusion, the Dumfries Devorgilla Rotary Club’s Charity Pop-Up Shop at the Loreburne Centre is a great opportunity for residents to find bargains while contributing to charitable efforts in the local area. By shopping at the Pop-Up Shop, individuals can make a positive impact on the community and support important causes.
