Meghan Markle’s sister’s lawyer gives Prince Harry a new harsh nickname, referring to him as the “Duke of Wails” amidst a legal battle. The lawyer for Samantha Markle, Meghan’s half-sister, expressed frustration with Prince Harry’s titles in court filings as Samantha sues Meghan for libel. The lawsuit stems from comments made by Meghan in the Netflix documentary series ‘Harry & Meghan’ released in 2022, where Samantha accuses Meghan of spreading false and malicious lies about her upbringing. Although the initial case was dismissed in the Federal Court in Florida, it has now moved to the Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit.

Peter Ticktin, from the Ticktin Law Group, criticised the confusion over Prince Harry’s title in court documents, suggesting he should have been named the Duke of Sussex instead of the Prince of Wales. Samantha Markle’s lawyer also highlighted inconsistencies in Meghan’s statements about her upbringing, contesting claims made in interviews with Oprah Winfrey and the Netflix documentary. Prince Harry’s involvement with The Aspen Institute’s Commission on Information Disorder was also scrutinised, with Ticktin dubbing him as “the Minister of Fiction.”

In response to Harry and Meghan’s launch of the Archwell Foundation Parent’s Network to protect children from online harm, Ticktin accused the couple of hypocrisy, alleging that their supporters engage in smear campaigns against critics. Despite Harry’s advocacy for child safety online, Ticktin condemned the actions of the Sussex Squad, stating that they undermine the very values Harry claims to uphold.

The legal mishap in court documents where Prince Harry was mistakenly referred to as the Prince of Wales instead of the Duke of Sussex was a point of contention. The errors in the filings highlighted the ongoing legal battle between the two sisters and the complexities surrounding their public statements about each other.

Prince Harry’s transition from His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales to the Duke of Sussex after his marriage in 2018 was also addressed, along with his inability to use his HRH title following his exit as a senior royal in 2020. The significance of the Prince of Wales title, currently held by Prince William as the heir to the British throne, was underscored in the context of the legal dispute between the Markle sisters.
