Residents urged to get involved over future plans for Port of Menteith

Residents in Port of Menteith are being called upon to actively participate in shaping the future plans for the village. The Local Place Plan, which is being developed by Port of Menteith Community Council and the village hall committee, aims to address various critical issues such as housing, transport, natural heritage, community events, and enhancements to the hall. Support for this initiative has been extended by Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park and community engagement agency Imagine If. Both residents and local businesses are invited to engage in discussions to contribute their insights.
The first engagement event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, November 24, from 11am to 2.30pm at the village hall. Following this event, accessible surveys will be available to enable a wide range of stakeholders to participate in the planning process. Residents are encouraged to attend the event where they can gather more information, partake in festive activities, provide feedback for the plan, and enjoy a selection of refreshments including soup, stovies, tea, coffee, and homemade baking.
The outcomes of these discussions will be incorporated into local priorities and action plans, as well as the creation of the Local Place Plan, which will be shared with neighbouring councils and public bodies such as the national park and Stirling Council. Developing this plan will also facilitate access to funding opportunities and investments for Port of Menteith and surrounding villages like Dykehead, Blairhoyle, and Ruskie. The Local Place Plans serve as a platform for communities to propose land development ideas and actively contribute to the planning system.
Individuals interested in participating or voicing their opinions can do so by visiting portofmenteith.org/lpp. This inclusive approach aims to ensure that the future development of Port of Menteith is reflective of the community’s needs and aspirations.
In summary, the Port of Menteith community is embarking on a collaborative effort to shape the future of their village through the Local Place Plan. This initiative encourages active involvement from residents and businesses to address key issues and pave the way for sustainable development in the area. The engagement event and accessible surveys provide opportunities for diverse stakeholders to contribute their perspectives and ideas, ultimately fostering a sense of ownership and collective responsibility for the village’s future growth and enhancement.
