Sale of special Edradour whisky bottling will help save lives

A special edition whisky bottling from Edradour Distillery in Perthshire is set to raise funds for Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA), contributing to life-saving efforts. The sale of this single malt is anticipated to generate over £56,000 for the charity. This charitable initiative was inspired by distillery owner Andrew Symington’s personal experience with SCAA during an emergency near the distillery a couple of years ago. The swift and professional response of the air ambulance service left a lasting impression on Symington, motivating him to support their cause in the future.
Following another incident involving the air ambulance and a health scare of his own, Symington decided to allocate proceeds from specially selected casks towards fundraising for SCAA. The limited release includes 2485 bottles of a 10-year-old whisky matured in sherry butts in the hills of Perthshire. Edradour, established in 1825 and acquired by Symington in 2002, plans to continue this annual fundraising bottling for SCAA, encouraging other distilleries to follow suit.
Symington emphasised the importance of rural communities having access to crucial emergency services like SCAA, highlighting the need for support from businesses operating in remote areas. SCAA’s corporate partnerships manager, Andrew Kernohan, expressed gratitude for Edradour’s contribution, noting the significant impact it will have on the charity’s work saving lives across Scotland. The collaboration between Edradour and SCAA showcases the power of innovative fundraising efforts in sustaining essential services.
In a statement, Kernohan outlined SCAA’s mission to ensure timely assistance reaches all areas of Scotland, underscoring the vital role of community support in achieving this goal. He commended Edradour for their commitment to this cause and encouraged others to join in championing lifesaving initiatives. The funds raised from the special whisky bottling will be instrumental in furthering SCAA’s operations and enhancing emergency response capabilities for the benefit of all Scots.
This collaboration between Edradour Distillery and Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance exemplifies the spirit of community support and the impactful role businesses can play in advancing public welfare. By uniting efforts towards a common goal of saving lives, this partnership sets a meaningful precedent for corporate social responsibility within the whisky industry and beyond.
