Sanquhar Primary School pupils delighted to meet Paddy McGuinness on his charity cycling tour through the region


Sanquhar Primary School pupils were thrilled to meet celebrity Paddy McGuinness as he embarked on his charity cycling tour through the region. The children cheered on the BBC 2 DJ as he cycled his way through Dumfries and Galloway on a 300-mile endurance challenge from Wrexham AFC to Glasgow. Paddy, known for presenting “Take Me Out,” took a moment to pause for a picture with the excited students, who had prepared banners and Pudsey masks to cheer him on.

During his journey, Paddy made stops at Abington, Crawford, and Elvanfoot, where he was greeted by the enthusiastic pupils from Sanquhar Primary School. Some of the children had the opportunity to meet not only Paddy McGuinness but also cycling legend Sir Chris Hoy, who interviewed the star. The pupils were overjoyed to spot themselves on TV during Children In Need on Friday, November 15, after following Paddy’s progress with great anticipation.

The school expressed their gratitude to parent Emma Herries for organizing the memorable encounter, as well as to the parent helpers for their support and the Sanquhar Community Minibus for providing transport. The pupils’ excitement and engagement with Paddy McGuinness and Sir Chris Hoy left a lasting impression on everyone involved.
