Santa Brings Festive Cheer to East Kilbride Shopping Centre’s Winter Wonderland
Hundreds of children flocked to East Kilbride town centre over the weekend to give Santa a warm welcome as he arrived for the festive season. Santa landed in his sleigh at 10am and was escorted by his elves through the malls to his winter wonderland grotto in Centre West. Among the eager crowd were siblings Charlie, 11, and Emma-Rose Kelly, 7, who have been first in line to see Santa for over a decade.
The shopping centre’s free grotto offers a magical experience with Christmas trees dusted with snow, candy canes, polar bears, giant baubles, festive music, and dancing snowmen to delight children of all ages. Santa will be stationed in EK town centre every weekend in December and leading up to Christmas Eve, spreading joy from 10am to 4pm on Saturdays, 11am to 4pm on Sundays, and extended hours on December 23 and Christmas Eve.
While there is no fee to visit Santa, visitors are encouraged to make a donation to the EK charity Kilbryde Hospice at the grotto or other collection points within the centre. No bookings are required, and each child will receive a Christmas gift before leaving the grotto. Santa expressed his delight at the warm welcome he received in East Kilbride, while the centre manager, Alan Smillie, described the weekend as truly magical and anticipates a festive period at EK filled with joy.
The festive season has well and truly kicked off in East Kilbride, with Santa’s arrival bringing smiles to the faces of both children and adults alike. Families can look forward to a fun-filled Christmas at the shopping centre, with the grotto serving as a hub of festive cheer and excitement for all.
