Scots dad fuming after Ryanair gives him £3.30 voucher for 24 hour delay

A Scottish father is expressing his frustration after being given a £3.30 voucher by Ryanair for a 24-hour flight delay due to adverse weather conditions. Gary Lindsay, accompanied by his two daughters, was in Krakow and en route back to Edinburgh when their flight, scheduled for 11.25 am on November 27, was delayed. The airline later informed them that the flight would depart at 7 am on the following day.
Despite boarding the plane, they were deplaned and informed about the further delay. Subsequently, they had to spend an extra night at a hotel, arrange their meals, and manage transportation to and from the airport. Gary is still awaiting compensation for the additional expenses incurred and expressed disappointment at receiving only a nominal £3.30 airport meal voucher per person, which they did not even use.
In an interview with Edinburgh Live, Gary disclosed the lack of communication from Ryanair during the delay, with other airlines promptly notifying passengers of issues caused by the adverse weather conditions. Despite recognising that the weather was beyond the airline’s control, Gary highlighted the inadequate information provided and the insufficiency of the meal vouchers as the main sources of his dissatisfaction.
After enduring further delays and setbacks, including a mechanical issue with the plane, Gary and his daughters eventually departed almost 24 hours later than scheduled. He emphasised the lack of customer service and expressed his disappointment with the overall treatment received from the airline throughout the ordeal.
As of December 2, Gary had not received a response regarding his claim for reimbursement of the additional expenses incurred during the extended delay. Ryanair, in response to the situation, expressed regret for the inconvenience caused by the weather-related delay and outlined the measures taken to assist affected passengers during the disruption.
In summary, the incident faced by Gary Lindsay and his family sheds light on the challenges passengers may encounter during flight delays and the importance of effective communication and customer service from airlines, especially in unforeseen circumstances. Travel disruptions due to factors like adverse weather can have a significant impact on passengers, underscoring the need for clear policies and support mechanisms in place to address such situations promptly and efficiently.
