Scots schoolgirl praised after helping save dad and sister from horror crash

An Aberdeen schoolgirl has been hailed a hero after assisting in saving her dad and sister from a terrifying crash. Hayley McKay, 11, received a Certificate of Commendation from the Scottish Ambulance Service for her quick thinking and bravery during the incident that took place outside Bucksburn Police Station back in April.
The commendation was given to Hayley for her actions in calming her eight-year-old sister Emily and assisting the ambulance crew in evaluating her condition until additional help arrived at the scene. Hayley’s mother, Rebecca, expressed her gratitude towards the Scottish Ambulance Service staff for their reassurance and praised Hayley for her remarkable help during the crisis.
To recognise Hayley’s bravery, Sarah Louise Houghton, Paramedic Team Leader in Aberdeen, welcomed the family to the Ambulance station for a tour where Hayley was presented with the certificate by SAS staff members Poppy Currie, Paramedic, Simon Hughes, Technician, and Robert Gordon University student Jack Gunn.
Rebecca, Hayley’s mother, shared her immense pride in her daughter’s composure and strength during the frightening ordeal.
