Scottish Water to start work on £1 million Dumfries and Galloway improvement project

Scottish Water is embarking on a significant £1 million improvement project in Wigtownshire, set to begin in the coming days. The utility operator’s plan involves the replacement of approximately 5km of the water network in the Milton area. Starting near the A747, work is scheduled to commence on Thursday, December 5, with a timeline of around 40 weeks, culminating near Aramenta Balcarry.

According to a spokesperson from Scottish Water, measures will be implemented to ensure the safety of both site personnel and the public during the project. This will involve the use of temporary traffic lights, diversions, road closures, as well as some restrictions on access and parking. Residents will be provided with advanced notice through signage placed seven days before any road closures, and the site team will manage access for locals.

The initiative aims to enhance the water infrastructure in Dumfries and Galloway, promising improved services and reliability for the community. Scottish Water’s commitment to investing in necessary upgrades underscores their dedication to delivering high-quality water services to residents in the region.

In conclusion, the commencement of the £1 million project by Scottish Water in Wigtownshire marks a significant step towards modernising and ensuring the efficiency of the water network in the area. The proactive approach taken by the utility operator is a testament to their commitment to providing vital services that meet the needs of the community in Dumfries and Galloway.
