Sir Andy Murray to Step onto the Stage in 2025
Former tennis champion and local hero Sir Andy Murray, hailing from Dunblane and Stirling, is making a comeback of sorts next summer but this time not on the tennis court. He is gearing up to embark on a theatre tour across the UK in 2025, titled Centre Stage, where he will share insights and stories from his remarkable career. The show promises to unveil new anecdotes and personal details from Andy’s life on the professional tennis circuit.
Centre Stage will only run for four nights during the UK grass court season in June 2025. The tour will kick off in Glasgow, Andy’s birth city, before concluding at the New Wimbledon Theatre just before the Wimbledon Championships. BBC sports broadcaster Andrew Cotter will host and produce the show, bringing his experience and rapport with Andy to create an intimate setting for the audience. The theatregoers will be asked to switch off their phones for an exclusive experience with a maximum crowd capacity of 3,400 fans.
Speaking about his upcoming tour, Sir Andy expressed his excitement for this new challenge post-retirement, stating, “After I retired this summer, I wanted to try some different things. I don’t think a tennis player has done anything like this before so it felt like a great challenge for me. I haven’t stepped on a tennis court for a long time, so hopefully my fans will enjoy seeing me in this new setting”.
The tour dates are as follows: Wednesday 18 June – SEC Armadillo, Glasgow; Thursday 19 June – Playhouse, Edinburgh; Saturday 21 June – Eventim Apollo, London; and Sunday 29 June – New Wimbledon Theatre, London. Tickets for the general public will be available for purchase from Thursday, November 14, on AndyMurray.com.
In summary, Sir Andy Murray is set to captivate audiences once again, this time with his off-court tales and personal journey in Centre Stage, offering fans a unique and up-close experience with the tennis legend.
