Sir Chris Hoy completes 255km charity cycle across Cambodia for impoverished kids

Olympic cycling legend Sir Chris Hoy has completed a remarkable 255km charity cycle across Cambodia to raise funds for impoverished children. Despite facing a stage 4 cancer diagnosis with a prognosis of two to four years to live, Sir Chris embarked on this challenging journey in support of ISF Cambodia. The six-time Olympic gold medallist led a five-day ride from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap, helping to raise over £500,000 for the charity. ISF Cambodia works towards providing educational and sporting opportunities for underprivileged children in the country, a cause that Sir Chris has been passionately supporting since 2020.

Accompanied by fellow Olympic cyclist Jason Queally and Paralympic rower David Smith, Sir Chris expressed his gratitude for the success of the fundraising efforts. Over 700 children have benefited from the charity’s work, and the funds raised will further aid in continuing this impactful mission. Reflecting on the experience, Sir Chris shared, “Riding alongside my good mates Jason and David plus all the donors and ISF supporters was so much fun. Huge thanks to the whole team whose hard work made it all possible.”

In addition to his charity cycle, Sir Chris Hoy has been actively involved in various philanthropic endeavours, including attending the Princess of Wales’s Christmas carol concert. His commitment to making a difference in the lives of others continues to inspire and uplift those around him.

Sir Chris Hoy’s resilience and dedication to supporting charitable causes, despite facing personal health challenges, serve as a testament to the power of compassion and altruism. His recent charity cycle exemplifies not only his athletic prowess but also his generous spirit and unwavering determination to create a positive impact in the world.
