Skilled Ayrshire Riders Raise £2015 for Armed Forces Charity
A group of skilled riders from Ayrshire came together to raise an impressive £2,015 for the Armed Forces charity, SSAFA. The event, organised by the Ayrshire Trials Club, took place on a farm in New Cumnock during their annual Remembrance Sunday trials.
Almost 60 riders participated in the event, which included three laps of 12 sections and a ‘fast race’ where a new back tyre was up for grabs for the fastest rider. Spectators and participants gathered after observing The Two-Minute Silence at 11am, with homemade food and drinks available for purchase to keep everyone warm and satisfied.
The highlight of the event was the raffle, where various prizes were up for grabs, with all proceeds going towards SSAFA. The Secretary of the Ayrshire Trials Club, Sara Watson, expressed her joy at the success of the fundraiser and the club’s commitment to supporting veterans.
Scott Cunningham from SSAFA commended the Ayrshire Trials Club for their ongoing support over the past two years, emphasizing the impact of their donation on providing vital support to serving personnel, veterans, and their families in Scotland.
Founded by Barry Watson in 2020, the Ayrshire Trials Club has been operating without a base of its own, relying on the generosity of farmers in the New Cumnock area to host their events. SSAFA, on the other hand, has been supporting the UK Armed Forces community since 1885, ensuring that no one within the Armed Forces family battles alone.
The Ayrshire Trials Club’s dedication to raising funds for a noble cause like SSAFA showcases the spirit of camaraderie and support within the Ayrshire community, reinforcing the importance of coming together to make a positive impact on the lives of those who have served our country.
