Aviation traffic bosses in Ayrshire have received approval to generate over a fifth of their electrical needs from solar energy. NATS Prestwick had previously proposed installing more than 2000 solar panels at their base to reduce their carbon footprint. Local authority planners have now given the green light to these plans, which include the installation of 1402 solar panels on building rooftops and 798 panels mounted on the ground. NATS Prestwick aims to become carbon negative across their estates by 2040 with this scheme.
