St Kevin’s Primary pupil secures £500 prize for her school from telecoms communications provider Commsworld
Pupils and staff from St Kevin’s Primary in Bargeddie are celebrating after one of their classmates won a £500 prize for the school from telecoms communications provider Commsworld. The company, along with Glasgow-based charity SmartSTEMS and North Lanarkshire Council, conducted workshops for over 1000 young people in schools and colleges across North Lanarkshire to promote careers in science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM). As part of the workshops, participants were tasked with designing a poster to explain what Commsworld or the internet means to them.
Eilidh McGuinness, a pupil at St Kevin’s, impressed the judges with her poster design showcasing the importance of connectivity for monitoring glucose/blood sugar levels and promoting health. Martina Corr, the marketing manager at Commsworld, commended Eilidh’s engagement and enthusiasm, hoping it would inspire her and her peers to pursue STEM careers. Eilidh expressed her excitement at winning the prize for the school, stating her pride in seeing her poster being used nationwide.
Provost Kenneth Duffy congratulated Eilidh and St Kevin’s on their achievement, praising the high-quality design of the winning poster.
