Stirling ASN Students Organise Christmas Craft Fair to Raise Funds for Hospice

Students with additional support needs at Forth Valley College in Stirling are coming together to raise funds for Strathcarron Hospice through a Christmas Craft and Market Fair. The event, organized by Stirling’s Lifestart students, will take place on Wednesday, December 11. The group of motivated students on Supported Education courses have worked diligently to create handmade items to sell at the fair. Additionally, they have received generous donations from other college students to sell on the day.

A variety of festive products will be available for purchase at the fair, including Christmas birch and holly candle holders, Christmas movie munchie boxes, Christmas tree decorations, Christmas cushions, and more. Lifestart is a class designed for young adults with additional support needs to develop independent living skills and engage with the community.

Angela MacLeod, a lecturer, expressed excitement about the upcoming event and encouraged staff, students, and visitors to attend from 11.30am to 1pm at the Stirling Campus. Attendees are requested to bring cash for purchases to allow Lifestart students to practice money handling skills. Donations to Strathcarron Hospice are also welcomed.

In addition to selling handmade items, the students are holding a raffle for a bike generously donated by their Additional Support Worker, Evelyn Burgess. Raffle tickets can be purchased for £3 from the Stirling reception, and the draw will take place on December 11. The students chose Strathcarron Hospice as the beneficiary due to its vital support for families in the Forth Valley area.

Strathcarron Hospice provides care for over 1,400 individuals annually, focusing on helping patients and their families during challenging times. The hospice’s dedicated team strives to help individuals achieve their goals and live life to the fullest until the very end.
