Stirling schoolboy hopes to raise funds for hospice with festive fundraiser this weekend

A Stirling schoolboy is leading the charge to raise funds for Strathcarron Hospice with a festive fundraiser set to take place this weekend. Lewis Frickleton, a Year 11 student at Fairview International School in Bridge of Allan, has organised a Christmas Carnival event on Saturday, December 7. The aim of the fundraiser is to support Strathcarron Hospice, which provides specialist hospice care and end-of-life care for the communities of Forth Valley, Cumbernauld, and Kilsyth.
As part of his Middle Years Programme Personal Project, Lewis hopes to raise £1000 for the hospice. The project requires students to choose a topic of interest to explore, create, develop, and report on, with each student paired with a mentor. Lewis has involved his classmates in running stalls at the Christmas Carnival, aligning with Fairview’s FairBiz module which allows students to develop their business skills in a supportive environment.
Victoria Gamble, the headteacher at Fairview, commended Lewis for his efforts and highlighted the importance of empowering students to pursue their passions and develop confidence. The Christmas Carnival will feature various activities including a Santa’s Grotto, carnival games, gift stalls, and an auction with all proceeds going to Strathcarron Hospice. Local businesses such as The Bloom Room, Ciao, and Stirling Distillery have generously donated items for the auction.
Melissa Duffy, a community fundraiser from Strathcarron Hospice, expressed gratitude for the support and emphasised the vital role of community generosity in funding the hospice’s daily operations. The Christmas Carnival is open to the public and will be held at Fairview International School’s Bridge of Allan Campus, offering a fun-filled day for families to enjoy while supporting a worthy cause. For more information on the event, visit the school’s website or contact enquiries@fairviewinternational.uk.
In summary, Lewis Frickleton’s initiative to raise funds for Strathcarron Hospice showcases the positive impact that young individuals can have on their communities through creative and charitable endeavours. His determination to make a difference and support those in need serves as an inspiration for others to get involved in similar meaningful initiatives. The Christmas Carnival promises to be a joyful event that not only spreads holiday cheer but also raises awareness and funds for an important cause.
