Stirling’s Tolbooth Venue to Host Tribute Gigs for Late Frightened Rabbit Frontman

Former Frightened Rabbit frontman Scott Hutchison is set to be honoured with two sold-out tribute gigs in Stirling. The indie rock band’s music and the enduring legacy of their lead vocalist will be celebrated at the city’s Tolbooth. Scheduled for Friday and Saturday, December 6 and 7, the event titled ‘Sing The Greys’ is a collaboration with Tiny Changes – a charity established in memory of Scott. The talented Selkirk-born musician sadly took his own life in May 2018. Tiny Changes, Scotland’s first national youth mental health charity, aims to invest £1 million in mental health initiatives for up to 10,000 children and young adults by 2026.

The special two-night event, which quickly sold out after tickets were released, will feature a house band led by Joe Rattray from Admiral Fallow. Ally McCrae, former Radio 1 and BBC Introducing DJ, will host the evenings. Various artists, all inspired by Scott, will perform beloved Frightened Rabbit tracks. The lineup includes Kathryn Joseph, Ross Leighton from Fatherson, Tommy Reilly, James Yorkston, Karine Polwart, as well as emerging artists like Raveloe, Djanna Gabrielle, and Scott William Urquhart.

David Weaver, Cultural Venues Programmer at Stirling Council, expressed excitement about the event, describing it as a joyous celebration that will bring people together to enjoy the music and honour Scott’s memory. He highlighted Frightened Rabbit’s global musical impact and the ongoing inspiration drawn from their songwriting and Scott’s poignant lyrics. The collaboration with Tiny Changes aims to raise funds and promote the remarkable work of the charity, which advocates passionately for the mental well-being of Scotland’s youth.

Tara McLoughlin, Artistic Director and Venues Manager at Stirling Council, emphasised the togetherness and sense of community fostered through music, echoing the spirit of Tolbooth’s vision. She expressed pride in showcasing Frightened Rabbit’s beautiful music and underlined the importance of investing in youth music, aligning with Tiny Changes’ mission to support and empower young individuals. Kara Olayinka, CEO of Tiny Changes, conveyed gratitude for being part of the upcoming tribute nights and thanked the collaborators for their support in raising funds and awareness for both Tiny Changes and Action in Mind.
