Tenants settling into new council homes at £1.8m Cloverhill development in Gartcosh

New council homes have been made available for tenants in Gartcosh at the newly developed £1.8 million Cloverhill project. The initiative, a collaboration with Bellway Homes, has provided 12 new properties on the site of the former Mount Ellen Golf Course. The homes consist of a mix of four one-bedroom cottage flats and eight three-bedroom terraced houses, contributing to North Lanarkshire Council’s plan to deliver 5000 new homes by 2035.
This project is part of the council’s Affordable Housing Policy, which focuses on providing modern and affordable homes for tenants. The purchase of these homes from Bellway Homes aligns with the council’s efforts to meet its ambitious housing delivery targets. The event marking the handover of the new properties was attended by housing convener, Councillor Michael McPake, along with representatives from Bellway Homes and new tenant, Maureen McVay.
Councillor McPake expressed his satisfaction with seeing tenants settle into their new homes, highlighting the importance of partnerships with developers in providing quality housing. Purchasing properties “off-the-shelf” complements the council’s traditional design and build projects, ensuring that homes meet accessibility and sustainability standards. The success of this collaboration is evident in the positive impact on tenants, communities, and the local economy.
The Cloverhill development is the second phase of homes acquired from Bellway in Gartcosh, following a previous purchase in 2019. The £1.8 million project received support from the Scottish Government, further demonstrating the commitment to addressing housing needs in the area. The collaboration between the council and developers has transformed the vision for Cloverhill into a thriving community, offering energy-efficient homes in a picturesque setting.
In conclusion, the completion of the Cloverhill development in Gartcosh signifies a significant milestone in North Lanarkshire Council’s efforts to provide quality housing for its residents. The success of this project highlights the value of partnerships in addressing housing challenges and creating vibrant communities for tenants to thrive in.
