The policing operation involved £56,562 in overtime pay for officers and £604 for additional staff, as stated in a Freedom of Information request to the Daily Record. With only two arrests made throughout the day, the police presence aimed to prevent disorder and ensure public safety during the event. David Kennedy, Scottish Police Federation’s General Secretary, emphasised the importance of maintaining security during events with high tensions to protect individuals and property. Meanwhile, Scottish Liberal Democrats’ justice spokesperson, Liam McArthur MSP, questioned the allocation of resources towards managing the rally rather than frontline policing.

Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for contempt of court related to false statements about a Syrian refugee.
