Woman Tells of Missed Heart Attack Symptoms at Age 32

Katelyn Jill, a woman who suffered a heart attack at the young age of 32, is sharing her story to raise awareness about the symptoms she initially dismissed. Posting on TikTok as @paydaywithkate, Katelyn recounted how she experienced the first signs and symptoms while getting ready for a party. She described feeling overheated, sweating profusely, and having tightness in her arm and back muscles. Despite these alarming symptoms, Katelyn initially ignored them until a friend pointed out the seriousness of her condition.

As the pain in her lower back intensified, Katelyn’s friend recognised the signs of a heart attack and urged her to seek medical help immediately. Katelyn then checked her Apple watch, revealing abnormal heart readings that prompted her friend to call for an ambulance. Subsequently, Katelyn underwent two operations to have stents fitted, and she was discharged from the hospital only to have a second heart attack a week later while running errands.

Diagnosed with a STEMI, a type of heart attack caused by a complete blockage of a coronary artery, Katelyn described the excruciating pain she felt between her shoulder blades and on her heart. Additionally, doctors mentioned the possibility of ‘broken heart syndrome’ or stress cardiomyopathy, conditions linked to emotional stress and anxiety. Katelyn, who hosts the Your Breakthrough podcast, is now sharing her experience to educate others on the importance of recognising heart attack symptoms promptly.
