Women Are Ditching Hair Dye For Their Natural Gray Hair In The Coolest Power Move

There’s something really inspiring about a person entirely accepting themselves as they are in all their glory and imperfection. While we live in a changing world filled with new concepts, fresh ideas, and seemingly daily embraces for new kinds of people, we rarely feel free. We rarely feel accepted. We rarely feel able to unconditionally love ourselves. There’s always a new product or procedure thrown in our faces to ‘fix’ us. Despite this social and mental battleground, women everywhere are ditching hair dye in order to embrace their natural gray hair. It’s one of the coolest power moves we’ve seen in a long time!

Women Are Embracing Themselves & Their Hair

It’s difficult to not care about your appearance. This is a simple truth. Some of us grow up in loving homes filled with encouraging parents, while others have quite the opposite experience. The interesting thing is, however, that both ends of this experiential spectrum can result in the same consequence. That is to say, regardless of one’s background, they can still end up struggling with their self-image. They can both have difficulty accepting themselves or feel pressure to “fit in” with social norms and idealistic expectations. Why should we expect anything else when everyone is constantly assaulted with beauty treatments, clothing trends, product ads, and more to help us look ‘better’?

No matter how confident someone appears, there’s a high likelihood that they feel pressed to act a certain way, look a certain way, or change themselves to fit a mold. In our materialistic America, it often matters more what you look like and what you have than what kind of a person you are. That’s part of why it’s so encouraging to see someone wholeheartedly embrace their natural self. But that’s not the only reason it’s inspiring!

Symbolization of Letting Gray Hair Show

People are beautiful, and when they embrace that beauty in the face of possible rejection, it’s admirable. When people admit who they are unapologetically in the face of resistance and a history of opposite assumptions, the prison doors of social expectations shatter. People are inspired by acceptance. People are inspired to think that maybe they can make that step themselves. When someone is willing to celebrate who they are, what they look like, and the weird things that bring them joy, it gives permission to others to do the same.

These beautiful women who are ditching hair dye in order to show off their natural gray hair aren’t just women saving money on trips to the hair salon. They aren’t just a bunch of older ladies who are fed up with social norms. Women shouldn’t be ashamed or embarrassed by the gray hairs on their heads or feel any need to cover up. They are brave and beautiful women of all ages willing to celebrate themselves, their hair, and their life in the face of questions and leers. They’re paving the way for other women to resist social expectations and embrace their hair color, eye color, body shape, shoe size, or whatever. While social media, magazines, and social norms are all clamoring for them to “hide their gray hair,” these women are choosing to love themselves instead.

The gray hairs one these women’s heads are not a sign of shame or old age. They are a determined celebration of life and proof of a life well-lived. But don’t take my word for it, check out the video!
