WW3 tensions rise as Swedish citizens told to stockpile food and water in nuclear war fear

WW3 tensions are on the rise as Swedish citizens have been advised to stockpile food and water amid fears of nuclear war. The government in Stockholm has updated its ‘If crisis or war comes’ document due to the ‘worsening security situation’. This update comes just hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned Vladimir Putin that US missile strikes “will speak for themselves”.

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Sweden has distributed five million pamphlets urging its residents to be prepared for a crisis or war. The pamphlet, twice the size of previous editions, instructs residents to take cover in the event of an attack with nuclear, biological, or chemical weapons. It also emphasises the importance of shelter for protection in such scenarios.

Sweden’s neighbour, Finland, has also updated its advice on preparing for incidents and crises in light of the escalating tensions. Similarly, Norwegians have been urged to be self-sufficient for a week in case of war, extreme weather, or other threats. Denmark has provided guidance on essential items for households to have in case of a crisis, including long-life foods and medicines.

The decision by President Joe Biden to allow Ukraine to strike targets inside Russia with US-supplied missiles has been met with criticism from the Kremlin. The use of US missiles to strike inside Russian territory marks a significant escalation in the conflict, with concerns about further fueling tensions internationally.

In response to the escalating situation, countries in the region are updating their preparedness plans and advising citizens on how to be self-sufficient in the face of potential crises. The updates to these plans reflect the growing concerns about the security situation and the need for readiness in case of unforeseen events.

The unfolding events in the region serve as a stark reminder of the fragility of international relations and the importance of being prepared for any eventuality. As tensions continue to escalate, it is crucial for individuals and governments alike to take proactive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of their citizens.
