Young football players have a ball at Fernhill Soccer School’s annual Christmas party

Young football players had a wonderful time at the Fernhill Soccer School’s annual Christmas party. The event, held on Sunday, December 1 at 6 pm, saw almost 80 young athletes, both current and former players, come together for a night of festive fun. The party was a great success, with 59 kids inside the venue and 19 older participants enjoying a game of football outside. The party featured DJ Michael John Hall, whose music kept the kids entertained all night. Fernhill Soccer School’s chairman and founder, Davy O’neil, expressed his delight at the turnout, saying, “It was a complete success. The place was heaving and we had almost 80 kids here.”
The young footballers were treated to goody bags at the end of the party, with prizes awarded to those who excelled in the games set up by the DJ. The event also received support from a staff member of the charity Sported, who helped distribute food and drinks. Santa made a special appearance, spreading joy and cheer among the children, with Davy praising Santa’s performance, “Our Santa, Tam McKay, was again first class.” The volunteers worked tirelessly throughout the night, ensuring everyone was well-fed and hydrated. Fernhill centre staff member, Carol, was commended for her assistance during the event.
Events like the Fernhill Soccer School’s Christmas party not only bring joy to young players but also foster a sense of community and camaraderie among them. It provides an opportunity for players to celebrate their love for the sport outside of regular training sessions and matches. Such gatherings not only promote physical activity but also help in building social and emotional skills among the young athletes.
In conclusion, the annual Christmas party at Fernhill Soccer School was a resounding success, bringing together young football players for a night of celebration and fun. The event, organized by dedicated volunteers and supported by the local community, highlighted the spirit of togetherness and joy that sports can bring to young athletes.
