According to Brodsky, he noticed the women’s restroom was empty and made what he believed was the safest decision in the moment.

Rather than take his daughters into a men’s restroom occupied by adult men, he escorted them into the vacant women’s restroom and waited while they finished before helping them wash their hands. The situation changed within moments when another customer entered the area after his wife and mother-in-law reportedly informed him that a man was inside the women’s restroom. Believing the situation was inappropriate, the customer confronted Brodsky while simultaneously calling police. Video from the incident shows the man telling dispatch, “There is a man with two little girls using the women’s bathroom. He’s washing his hands with his daughters right now,” as tensions inside the store continued to rise.

An Argument Quickly Escalated Inside the Store

The confrontation intensified as the customer insisted Brodsky had crossed a line by entering the women’s restroom, regardless of why he was there. According to Brodsky, the man argued that he should have asked a female QuikTrip employee to take his daughters inside instead of accompanying them himself. The disagreement unfolded while Brodsky’s daughters were still inside the restroom, turning what had been an ordinary stop into a stressful scene.

In a follow-up TikTok, Brodsky said officers told him he had not broken any laws by taking his daughters into the empty restroom.
